The Norwegian Industrial Research Institute -TEKNOVA AS- visited ITMATI within the International Cooperation Project “Metallurgical Scale Up”

matematica industrialITMATI participates in an International Cooperation project with Norwegian Institute for Industrial Research, Teknova. Due to this participation on Friday June 14 Svenn Anton Halvorsen, Senior Researcher of Applied Mathematics at Teknova AS, visited ITMATI in order to develop activities within the framework of a collaborative project between the two institutions in the metallurgical field.
 
In the morning session Svenn Anton Halvorsen presented the project in question and its collaboration with ITMATI in two "Study Groups" to be held throughout 2013 and 2014. In addition ITMATI presented success cases in the metal sector conducted by Galician research groups of Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research ITMATI promoters.

This event is funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology - Ministry of Economy and Competitiviness, in the framework of the project "Mathematics as an innovative element for innovation in industry".

  • 09:15 h: Workshop opening: Welcome session by Peregrina Quintela Estévez, Director of ITMATI.
  • 09:30 h: Presentation of Teknova: Svenn Anton Halvorsen, Senior researcher of Applied Mathematics at the Norwegian Institute for Industrial Research, Teknova AS.
  • 10:00 h: Sucess Cases I: "Numerical simulation of metallurgical process in the production of silicon". Mª Pilar Salgado Rodríguez, Applied Mathematics, USC.
  • 10:30 h: Success Cases II: "Statistical application in the production of silicon". Rubén Fernández Casal and Javier Saavedra Tarrío, Statistics and Operations Research, UDC.
  • 11:00 h: Coffee break
  • 11:30 h: Success Cases III: "Simulation of casting parts in aluminium", Patricia Barral Rodiño, Applied Mathematics,  USC.
  • 12:00 h: Sucess Cases IV: "Modelling and numerical simulation of different thermal treatments in the metallurgical industry". Elena Martín Ortega, Fluid Mechanics, UVigo.
  • 12:30 h: Closed-door meeting to discuss specific issues of the project in collaboration TEKNOVA_ITMATI "Metallurgical Scale Up".
  • 14:00 h: Lunch.
  • 16:00 h: Closed-door meeting to discuss specific issues of the project in collaboration TEKNOVA_ITMATI "Metallurgical Scale Up" (continuation).
  • 17:30 h: End of the workshop.
